Welcome to Yarrabilba State School.

It is a privilege to lead a school that sits at the heart of such a vibrant and growing community. Yarrabilba State School is a place where relationships matter, where diversity is celebrated and, most importantly, where we believe every child is capable of learning, growing and experiencing success.

Our school motto, Together Believing, Together Achieving, captures what sits at the heart of our school.

Together, because educating children is a shared responsibility. Our strongest outcomes come when students, families, staff and our broader community work alongside one another, with mutual respect, open communication and a shared commitment to our young people.

Believing, because every child deserves to have adults who see their strengths, recognise their potential and genuinely believe they can succeed. At Yarrabilba, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, known, valued and connected. Strong relationships and a genuine sense of belonging provide the foundation from which our students can engage confidently in learning, take risks, make mistakes and grow.

And Achieving, because belief must be matched by high expectations and great teaching. Our students deserve high-quality, evidence-informed learning experiences that build strong foundations for their future. We are committed to ensuring every child is supported and challenged to make progress, particularly in the essential foundations of literacy and numeracy.

We also recognise that learning extends well beyond academics. Children are learning how to navigate friendships, manage emotions, solve problems, make good choices and regulate their behaviour. At Yarrabilba, we believe these skills need to be explicitly taught, just as we teach reading, writing and mathematics.

We do this through strong relationships, clear expectations, consistent routines and the right support. We also believe that an important part of preparing young people for life is helping them understand that choices and actions have consequences. When mistakes are made, we will support students to reflect, repair relationships, learn from their choices and make better ones next time. Where consequences are required, they will be clear, fair and consistent, while always maintaining the dignity of the child.

Our approach is one of both support and accountability: understanding what sits behind behaviour does not mean lowering our expectations. Rather, we work alongside our students to develop the skills, responsibility and self-regulation they need to be successful at school and beyond.

Our families are an essential part of this work. You know your children best, and we value genuine partnerships between home and school. We want our families to feel welcomed, heard and connected to our school, and to know that we share the same goal: seeing their children thrive.

I am incredibly proud of the care, commitment and belief our staff show in our young people every day. Ultimately, we want every student who walks through our gates to know three things: I belong here. There are people here who believe in me. I can succeed.

That is what Together Believing, Together Achieving means to us.

I warmly invite you to explore our website, visit our school and discover what makes the Yarrabilba State School community such a special place to belong.
